About

• The department of Anaesthesiology was started in 1995 when the college was established.
• The first MCI inspection was held in September 2002 for starting PG courses (M.D) in Anaesthesiology. Approval was granted for two M.D. students every year. Letter in 2009 and 2010, seats were increased by 4 and 6 respectively.
• Medical Council of India (M.C.I.) recognized the department for M.D Anaesthesiology and the first M.D. exam was held in 2006. The result was 100% for all the batches till 2010.
• Approval to start diploma in Anaesthesiology was granted and the first batch was admitted in 2008. It was recognized in 2010.
• There are presently 6 M.D. and 2 Diploma seats in Anaesthesiology per year.
• The staff position has provision for (Sanctioned posts)
• Professor – one
• Associate Professors – four
• Assistant Professors – five
• Tutor – seven
• The department working has been divided in various sections viz.:
• Anaesthesia O.P.D. for preoperative checkup and Pain clinic for management of chronic pain patients
• Various operation theatres for routine surgical specialities and superspecialities including Neurosurgery, Oncosurgery and Urosurgery.
• A departmental museum, departmental library.
• Offices for faculty members.
• Critical Care Unit.
• CT scan and MRI setup.
• The academic sessions are regular. There are facilities for the staff members to keep themselves updated academically. The staff members and resident doctors have attended various conferences, C.M.E and workshops at the local, state, national and international level. Various scientific papers and posters of research and scientific work have been published and presented.

Departmental Achievement  Four Students in MD & Two students in DA have taken Admission in 2009.  CME and workshop on “CPR and Airway adjunct” was conducted by deptt. of Anaesthesiology on 13th July 2009.  Dr. Dipti Parmar MD Student of our department was awarded with Gold Medal for scoring highest mark in MD Exams in 2008 from Bhavnagar University on 15th Aug 2009.  Dr. Samir Gajjar, 1st year Resident was awarded for best poster presentation at Annual National conference of I.S.A. at Rajkot in year 2007  Organized a CME cum Workshop on Ventilator therapy in 12th March. 2011  Dr. Santosh R. SCHEME OF UNIVERSITY EXAMINATION IN ANAESTHESIOLOGY (M.D.)
Scheme of Examination : A) Theory : 1. There shall be 4 question papers, each of 3 hours duration. Total marks of each paper will be 100. Questions on recent advances may be asked in any or all papers. 2. Theory examination shall be held sufficiently earlier than clinical/practical examination so that the answer books are assessed before the commencement of the clinical/practical examinations. 3. Theory examination will be 400 marks. Students must obtain 50% (200 marks) to pass examination. 4. Framing of the question paper would be such that it can test the student’s analytical skill as well as knowledge in depth.

A) Theory :

Out of these one paper shall be covering subjects of basic sciences 3. heory examination shall be held sufficiently earlier than clinical/practical examination so that the answer books are assessed before the commencement of the clinical/practical examinations. 4. 25% of marks of each theory paper will be MCQs. this will be applicable for DA exam. 5. Theory examination will be f 300 marks. Students must obtain 50% (150 marks) to pass examination. 6. Each paper will be consisting of 4 questions. All questions will be compulsory.      a. One will be of MCQs type – 25 marks      b. Second will be of long descriptive type      c. Third will be of short descriptive type and      d. Fourth will be of short notes type 7. Framing of the question paper would be such that it can test the student’s analytical skill as well as knowledge in depth.
